Pencils For Progress
High School Chapters

Empowering students across the world to support their communities one pencil at a time.

What is a P4P Chapter?

Pencils For Progress chapters are separate 'sub-organizations' run by P4P Ambassadors, which would be you! These chapters are individuals who aim to mitigate the educational challenges that are in their communities. It must be a school-based organization, but can support any extension of the community! P4P Ambassadors get to lead and make an impact where they see fit.

  • Ambassadors of a chapter are expected to maintain a long-term commitment to their initiative.

  • Unlike one-time projects, chapters represent an ongoing and sustained effort.

  • By starting a chapter, you are creating an initiative designed to continuously generate positive impact in your community.

Pencils For Progress Chapter Selection Process

1.

Applicants will complete a series of personal and chapter-specific questions about their background, leadership experience, and vision for impact. Applicants are also required to submit two letters of recommendation that speak to their character and ability to lead, along with a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) to confirm eligibility. This phase helps us evaluate both commitment and readiness to maintain an active, long-term chapter.

Phase 1 | Online Application

2.

Phase 2 | Online Interview

Selected applicants will meet with our team to discuss their application in greater detail. This conversation focuses on their leadership experience, motivation for starting a chapter, and overall vision for impact within their community. It also provides an opportunity for applicants to ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of expectations and responsibilities. The interview is an important step in evaluating communication skills, commitment, and readiness to lead a long-term initiative.

3.

Phase 3 | Review and Confirmation

Our team carefully evaluates the applicant’s full profile, including their application, recommendations, VOE, and interview performance. This step is used to assess overall readiness, consistency, and alignment with P4P’s mission and expectations for long-term chapter leadership. Final decisions are then made, and selected applicants are formally notified and provided with next steps to confirm and launch their chapter.

4.

Phase 4 | Chapter Commencement

Approved applicants will officially begin their role as chapter ambassadors. During this stage, they receive onboarding materials, guidance on expectations, and resources to help them successfully launch and manage their chapter. This phase marks the transition from applicant to active leader, as they begin planning and implementing initiatives that align with P4P’s mission of creating sustained impact in their community.
